PANCAKE DAY

The ''Pancake Day'' is the traditional day of celebrating the beginning of the Lent that is a period of fasting. Pancakes aren't only a meal to be enjoyed but they are also protagonists of ''pancake race'' in London. The participants have to flip the pancakes in the pan while they're running.

PORTUGAL


HISTORY
The history of Portugal has its origins in the Middle Age. Between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, Portugal became a world power because it formed a vast maritime empire that stretched from South America to Australasia but then this country lost its colonies. In 1926 there was a military coup that established a dictatorship that was removed in 1974 by a new military coup of State. The new government promoted democratic reforms.


HISTORY
The official language of Portugal is Portuguese, adopted in 1290 by the King Dionysius. With more than 210 million native speakers, it is fifth most spoken language in the world.


RELIGION
In Portugal there isn't an official religion because it's a laic country, but the 84% of the population is christian and then there are Muslims, atheists, agnostics, Orthodox.

Among the most famous portuguese food, there is the Cozido à Portuguesa that is a mixture of meat and legumes. Usually there are also pudding, black pudding, Alheira and boiled potatoes, Then there is the Pao de ló that is a cake and its principal ingredients are eggs and sugar, There are two version of this cake: one is similiar to others cakes and another is liquid inside (Pao de ló Ovar)
