SUTTON HOO

Sutton Hoo is an archaeological site where a sepulchral ship was found with the remains of Redwald, a British sovereign. Within the tombs there were treasures that were very important because there were not many documents of the Middle Ages in England. Gold armor, precious gemstones, a ceremonial helmet, 37 gold coins, and other items were found and they make us understand how England was the protagonist of the history and politics of that time. Sutton Hoo was further studied and another cemetery was found and there condemned to death were buried.

MY HERO, MY MOM

If I have to think about a person who is an hero, I think about my mom. I know that sometimes seems like I don't appreciate what she does, but I can only admire her. She works six days for week but she's able to be present every single moment of my life and to help me if I need some help, and if I think what she does for us at home I could say that she works every day of the week. My mom is the most determined and strong woman I know and it's thanks to her if today I am who I am, because I consider myself independent, determined, strong and selfconfident, just like my mom.

Gelert

Once upon a time a prince and a princess had a baby. When the prince was little, his mother died and the king promised her to always take care of their baby. One day, he went hunting and when he returned home he found a lot of blood in the room and the dog's jaws dripping with blood. The prince thought that Gelert had killed his son and so he killed the dog. Then, he understood that the dog had killed a wolf that wanted to kill the little boy and so he had saved him. The prince was wrong and according to the legend he never smiled again.

Balto

Balto was half wolf and half Siberian Husky. In 1925 in a city called Nome, in Alaska, an epidemic broke out and they needed one million units of antitoxin. The nearest buffer stock was 1700 km distant and there weren't efficient communication channels. The only way to take the antitoxin to Nome were the sledge dogs and a relay was organized. Balto completed the relay and begun famous.

BEBE VIO

Beatrice Vio, known as Bebe Vio, is an Italian fencer. I heard about her on the occasion of Paralympics where she won the gold medal. When Bebe was 11, she was hit by a meningitis that caused extensive infection and necrosis to forearms and legs of which was necessary the amputation. Among her awards, there are two gold medal in European Championship, one gold medal in World Championship and a bronze and a gold medal in the Paralympics 2016 of Rio de Janiero and I think she is an example for all the people that want to give up on something because it's difficult and she makes us understand that when you really want something you can do everything.

PANCAKE DAY

The ''Pancake Day'' is the traditional day of celebrating the beginning of the Lent that is a period of fasting. Pancakes aren't only a meal to be enjoyed but they are also protagonists of ''pancake race'' in London. The participants have to flip the pancakes in the pan while they're running. 

PORTUGAL

HISTORY
The history of Portugal has its origins in the Middle Age. Between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, Portugal became a world power because it formed a vast maritime empire that stretched from South America to Australasia but then this country lost its colonies. In 1926 there was a military coup that established a dictatorship that was removed in 1974 by a new military coup of State. The new government promoted democratic reforms.


HISTORY
The official language of Portugal is Portuguese, adopted in 1290 by the King Dionysius. With more than 210 million native speakers, it is fifth most spoken language in the world.


RELIGION
In Portugal there isn't an official religion because it's a laic country, but the 84% of the population is christian and then there are Muslims, atheists, agnostics, Orthodox.

One of the most important Portuguese characters is Fernando António Nogueira Pessoa. He was one of the most important writers of the tweentith century because his literature work has been an important landmark in modern history.

Pão de Ló de Ovar

Among the most famous portuguese food, there is the Cozido à Portuguesa that is a mixture of meat and legumes. Usually there are also pudding, black pudding, Alheira and boiled potatoes, Then there is the Pao de ló that is a cake and its principal ingredients are eggs and sugar, There are two version of this cake: one is similiar to others cakes and another is liquid inside (Pao de ló Ovar)
